New Covenant United Methodist Church is a community of faith in The Villages, Florida with a vision to be the hands, feet, and voice of Christ in the world. The church officially began in 2001 with Rev. Gary Bullock as Senior Pastor. For over 20 years, New Covenant has lived into its DNA of being a multigenerational, multicultural church. Now, under the leadership of Rev. Harold Hendren, the church continues to look for opportunities to love God and love neighbor into the future.

Overview:

New Covenant’s mission is to make disciples of Jesus Christ for the transformation of the world.

The life of the church includes the following ministries:

  • Worship: New Covenant holds 3 worship services each weekend, including both contemporary and blended options. The church has an average weekly worship attendance of 2,998 (2020).

  • Discipleship: The Discipleship Ministry includes new member classes, Sunday Education Classes, Men’s and Women’s Ministries, Studies, Small Groups, and programs for children, youth, and families.

  • Congregational Care: The Congregational Care Ministry includes an Alzheimer’s Support Group, Congregational Care Ministers, the GriefShare Support Ministry, “Handy Fellas”, Hope for Hurting Parents, the Praying Together Ministry, a Prayers & Squares Quilt Ministry, “Prime Time”, Stephen Ministry, Visitation Ministry, and Christian Counseling.

  • Missions & Outreach: The New Covenant church family gives back through serving within one of the church’s ministries, by working with over 15 local & regional partner organizations, and via support of Zoe Empowers, a nonprofit with programs in 7 countries.

Locations:

The New Covenant church campus is located in the northern part of The Villages behind Southern Trace Plaza at 3470 Woodridge Dr. Bargains & Blessings Resale Store, located at 301 N Main Street in Wildwood, is also part of the church’s ministries.

Senior Pastor:

Rev. Harold Hendren became the third Senior Pastor of New Covenant in July 2011. Harold comes from a rich pastoral United Methodist tradition, as he is a third-generation United Methodist pastor. He is a graduate of Florida Southern College and Emory University. He has been a member of the Florida Annual Conference since 1988. His roots of being the Associate Pastor of First United Methodist Church in downtown Miami and doing extensive work with the homeless gave him a deeper understanding of poverty. Over the past decade, Harold has developed a passion to grow the church. Through New Covenant’s digital ministry, he sees a greater opportunity to connect with more people within our community and around the world. He has deep desire to share Christ’s love through worship and missions. He takes to heart New Covenant’s vision of “Being the hands, feet, and voice” of Christ. Harold is responsible for “visioneering” (engineering a vision) at New Covenant. He also is very intentional in developing strong leadership within the church staff and congregation. He is very intentional in developing spiritual formation through dynamic practical preaching that speaks the truth of Christ into our everyday lives.
